Andrew Blair practises principally in building and construction disputes and commercial litigation, with related work in property and leasing disputes, corporations law, equity, consumer law, administrative law and alternative dispute resolution.
He is briefed in matters involving domestic and commercial building work, construction contracts, payment claims, variations, extensions of time, delay and disruption, defects, contractual construction, misleading or deceptive conduct, unconscionable conduct, leasing disputes, property disputes, interlocutory applications and costs disputes.
Andrew’s practice is particularly suited to disputes where the legal issues are closely tied to project records, contract administration, technical chronology and commercial decision-making. Before coming to the Bar, Andrew practised as a solicitor in the construction group at Corrs Chambers Westgarth and in commercial litigation at Freehills. His pre-Bar construction work included disputes involving engineering issues, defects, delay, disruption, variations, contract interpretation, discovery and privilege.
Andrew also served in the Royal Australian Air Force in logistics, procurement, contract-management and legal roles. That experience included procurement and contract oversight, risk and probity work, and legal support for Defence procurement and acquisition matters. It gives Andrew practical familiarity with contractual administration, institutional decision-making, project risk and governance.
Andrew appears and advises in courts and tribunals including the Supreme Court of Victoria, the County Court of Victoria, the Federal Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of New South Wales, VCAT and the Building Appeals Board. He also appears in private arbitrations, mediations and other dispute-resolution processes.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from the University of Sydney, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New South Wales, a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, and Defence qualifications in personnel, operations and government management.
