David practices in commercial and criminal law. He enjoys working at the intersection of the jurisdictions. He has a particular interest in appellate and review proceedings.

Prior to being called to the Bar, David was an associate at the Supreme Court of Victoria, firstly to Redlich JA in the Court of Appeal and then to Incerti J (formerly Zammit J) in the Trial Division. Before that, David was an academic at the University of Melbourne, where he taught in the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Arts. He completed his doctoral thesis in the area of political philosophy. David also worked as a researcher for the Hon. Alex Chernov AC QC when he was Governor of Victoria.

Many moons ago, David was a seasonal clerk at Mallesons Stephen Jacques (as it then was), where he returned to do sessional work for a partner in M&A.

David read with Patrick Doyle and his senior mentor was James Gorton QC. He is a reporter for the Victorian Reports.
